First Bus is the latest operator to sign up as a FlixBus partner. It will put 21 new Yutong GT12 coaches onto eight scheduled routes over the coming 12 months via a five-year partnership that the operator says will create 65 driver jobs.
Expansion into FlixBus work by First Bus is a further part of its growth strategy, the business says. That has already seen it complete multiple acquisitions of family-owned coach and bus operators, most recently Anderson Travel and Lakeside Group.
The FlixBus coaches will operate from First Bus depots in Bath, Bristol, Slough, Taunton, Truro, Weston-super-Mare and Yorkshire. The first will enter service in spring 2025.
Their deployment will “significantly boost” FlixBus provision in South West England – where First Bus already has the Truronian coach operation – and expand coverage in cities in Northern England such as Leeds, Manchester and Newcastle-upon-Tyne.
In addition to the driver recruitment exercise, a dedicated manager and a supervisor within First Bus will oversee the scheduled coaching operation. FlixBus says it will significantly invest in the new provision via brand engagement and awareness work.
Speaking about the collaboration, First Bus Chief Operating Officer Andrew Jarvis (pictured, left) says: “This new partnership with FlixBus marks another significant milestone in growing the First Bus B2B operation, and we are excited to serve further regions in the UK, helping to make longer distance travel easier.
“This new contract will create around 70 jobs and strengthen our national footprint as we renew our presence in the contract express coach market segment.”
FlixBus plans to double the size of its UK network by the close of summer 2025. It says that “over 200” of its green coaches will be on the road here by then.
Adds FlixBus UK Managing Director Andreas Schorling (pictured, right): “Three years ago we set out to be the market leader in the UK. We have experienced unprecedented passenger demand and strong commercial success and, as we onboard operators like First Bus, market leadership is becoming inevitable.
“This is a golden era for coach travel where new modern, comfortable vehicles provide an enjoyable experience that passengers love. This is a renaissance for coach travel, and we see record numbers of people trying and returning to FlixBus.”
So, interesting times ahead especially with reduction of megabus op/erations.

Drove past the Van Hool dealership in Clermont yesterday and it would appear Megabus have finished in the USA as well. Lined up were at least 40 Megabus coaches which I assume are in for refurb and onward sale, In front of them was their all electric Astromega, Again pictures attached.

323 remembered by Grahame Wareham
H323 LWL318 was a 1946 AEC Regent II with Park Royal H40'26R semi-utility body.
In 1952 it was renumbered as H857 into the high-bridge series. It was withdrawn
in May 1957 and sold to Deacon (dealer), Dorchester being resold to Smith,
Reading in September 1957 and fitted with rear platform doors. It was withdrawn
in August 1961 and converted into a tree cutter in August 1962.It was derelict
by November 1963 and had disappeared by November 1966.
323 323NJO was a 1962 AEC Bridgemaster 2B3RA with Park Royal H40/25F forward
entrance body. It spent its COMS life allocated to Cowley Road depot initially
being used on Country area duties. 323 was withdrawn in May 1972 and sold to TPE
Macclesfield (dealer) and resold to Premier Travel Cambridge as their 225 and
repainted for them by COMS at Cowley Road Garage. It was withdrawn by Premier
Travel in May 1974 and sold to Smith, Thriplow for scrap.

Aylesbury in the past week by Tony Bungay
After competing with Arriva a couple of years ago on the Aylesbury local
Bedgrove service, which ultimately saw Arriva withdraw their long-established
service.
Saturday 2/11/24 saw the last day of operation of this route by Red Rose, from
4/11/24 Z & S will be the new operator.

Red Rose Enviro 200 is seen working the 7, looking immaculate.
This vehicle I
think originally carried branding for the Red Rose 100 service to Milton Keynes
when launched.

A chance sighting of Redline Enviro 200 again
obviously very recently repainted into X20 County Lines livery.
A very dull day
and fading light, I had to make the best of the situation.

On Aylesbury Railway Station forecourt on Rail Replacement work was this very
new in overall white MCV vehicle. Legal Lettering said Coastline Buses
Blackpool,
which I assume means it is part of Transpora as they had other
vehicles engaged on this work.

Samsung had a bus advertising their products parked in
Broad Street Reading on Thursday 7th November. LK60AFV is an Enviro
400 bus formerly Metroline TE1085 in London. It had a portable
generator at the back to power all of Samsung's phones inside.
Also I noticed this article about the Berkshire fire brigade holding an exercise based around a bus.
It is a Seaford and District bus possibly one of these

Can anyone identify it from the photo?

Yes long time no reports/photos, it simply down to the lack of spare time and where I have been. from the London visit in August, next trip in September was Oxford/Reading, which is well covered by others, this was followed by Showbus, where I knew you would get plenty from.
Have been in contact with Amberley and got an
Arriva The Shires 2000-25 book signed off for late 2025, published early 2026 !,
three others have had draft ideas submitted which I will advise once they are
given the OK. Want to get to Luton and or MK before Christmas, if when done will
pass over images along with those off cruise, assume you will have less photos
submitted then also.

I was taken by surprise to come across a Canadian report in the Overseas
Interlude. I can add more information plus a question.
Geographically, Newfoundland and Labrador (NL), Prince Edward Island (PE), Nova
Scotia (NS) and New Brunswick (NB) are known as The Maritimes. New England is
in that other country south of the border.
A nice set of pictures! The unidentified bus in Charlottetown (fleet number
2174) is a Thomas Saf-T-Liner and part of the Coach Atlantic fleet.
In Quebec City, the ADL Enviro500 buses are ex-GO Transit, Toronto. The blue
bus is ex-GO Transit 8192 and the white bus is ex-GO Transit 8205. I have a
question for Adrian. Did he physically see a fleet number of 88 and 89 on these
buses? The reason that I ask is because in my records I have the fleet numbers
reversed, i.e. 89 (blue) and 88 (white) and I would like to correct my files if
I am wrong.
Staying in Quebec City, the open-top bus number 80 is an ADL Enviro400 purchased
new and not an Enviro500.
Anybody arriving on a cruise ship, especially in Halifax and Saint John, New
Brunswick will come across Routemaster buses in various colours. These buses
are owned and operated by Coach Atlantic although many of them carry Absolute
Charters as the legal lettering. Coach Atlantic has a fleet of 38 Routemasters
spread around Saint John, Dieppe, Halifax and Charlottetown and is the world's
largest owner of Routemasters. A current list of all 38 is attached. These
buses have featured in several issues of the British Buses Abroad magazine,
published by Buses Worldwide.
I much enjoyed seeing the area in the mid '90s with the Air Training Corps IACE visit. Ed.

Some of today's visitors at The Kassam including the team coach which I
believe is also used by Cardiff City.

The Johnston coach was taken in St.

Five pictures taken at
Carousel depot on Monday 4th.

Preserved Citaro MB51
looking smart as always.

General view including 533
which has only just returned to service after nearly two months of the road.

I wonder why E200 534 has
never carried Carousel branding.

Scania 210 which rarely
sees service, next to 432 with a notice in the window saying "Do not use. "O"
licence removed."
I had noticed that the two Versas 431 and 432 are out of
service. I wonder what fate awaits them.

Scania 225 has not moved
from this position for some weeks.

I'm a long time reader of the
Oxford and Chiltern Bus Page but have never contributed before being somewhat
out of area. I enjoy reading all the goings on. Thank you for all
the work you put into the page each week. You may be aware that four ADL
Enviro 400 MMCs have transferred from Stagecoach Oxfordshire to Stagecoach South
- 10431, 10432, 10685 and 11243. 10685 has come to Andover where I live.
I believe this will have been transferred for the Activ8 service shared with
Go-Ahead Salisbury Reds which has recently had a frequency increase and now
requires 5 buses from each operator. We have a couple of Gold standard
E400 MMCs loaned from Aldershot depot which are fulfilling the extra 2 buses at
the moment (although they can appear on any route given allocations are not
strict!) but I saw 10685 as I was passing through Andover bus station this
afternoon. It had just come in on an Activ8 service from Salisbury and I
took a quick picture which I attach and you may wish to use for the page.
With regard to the other 3 buses
that have transferred, 10431 is currently in use at Basingstoke and 11243 is use
at Portsmouth depot. 10432 is not tracking with South as yet.

As well as buses TfL have also installed some Poppy
roundels at selected stations including London Bridge and, as illustrated here,
Bethnal Green.

Ten of the cabins on the IFS Cloud Cable Car have
also received Poppy branding.

With Christmas approaching sales of alcohol increase.
Jack Daniels is aiming to catch a share of this market with this advert on Go
Ahead's LT866 seen at Moorfields Eye Hospital on 31 October.
Selected Metropolitan Police officers have to hold a PCV licence as part of their employment. Since withdrawing the small in house fleet of buses operated drivers are trained on vehicles hired in for the purpose.

This
Wright Streetlite from Nola Hire was in use on 30 October, seen taking a break
at Oxford Circus.

Arriva's LT971, seen in Chancery Lane on 3 November, carries this wrap for
Uniqlo's range of thermal clothing.
Heritage vehicles appeared on several routes serving
Archway on 3 November, giving the chance to ride on vehicles of yesteryear and
raise funds for the Royal British Legion's annual Poppy Appeal.

The oldest bus in use was T792, a AEC Regal III with
Mann Egerton dating from 1948.
It worked several 'shorts' on route 210
between Golder Green and Archway, the latter being the location of this shot.
Sharing duties on then 210 were a pair of Bristol's
with ECW bodywork. Never a common marque in London fleets, the two come
from small batches which served London in the 1970s and 1980s.

BS5 a Bristol LHS, a short version of the LH and more
at home with fleets serving rural areas.
The type were common in Archway,
serving on the C11. It is seen in Archway on route 210.
The larger BL was represented by BL88, a bus that served its London life in Hounslow, Kingston and Croydon before heading to the north east of England for further service with OK Services.

It is seen on
layover at Archway before heading off on another 210 to Golders Green.

Completing the allocation on route 210 was RF486.
Several Routemasters operated shorts between Friern Barnet and Holloway Nags Head on route 43.

RM1933 is seen heading for the
latter as it reaches the bottom of the long hill the southbound A1 descends to
reach Archway.

RT1705, an example with a roof box, was working short
journeys as far as Highbury Barn on route 4. Seen on layover,
it went into
service a short time later where it was passed by Metroline's VMH2433 which
illustrates the current allocation on the route
XF1 was one of a batch of Park Royal Fleetlines delivered to London Transport for country operations, along with a batch of Atlanteans used in the 'red' area. Eight Fleetlines later swapped with the same number of Atlanteans for comparison trials on route 271.

XF1 was one of the chosen buses and so it was fitting
that it recreated
what would have been a common sight between April and July
1966
on a route which has now been withdrawn. It is seen passing Archway
bound for Hoxton.
