Trips & Running Days

This is where I am including events such as Showbus and readers reports of trips etc.

Matt Taylor reports on a recent visit to Switzerland.

Whilst in Switzerland some bus services were observed. Both are run by AVA, the first is the bus that runs between Adelboden and Kandersteg, the addition of a trailer to help with luggage, skis and whatever else.

The second was a Polaris, lovely bus built in Poland, this took us from Kandersteg Centre to the International Scout Centre where we were staying. If you wore your Scout necker it was free travel too, an easy way when 50 or so Scouts are boarding each trip.

September 25th 2016.

There was a good turn out for the his years event at Donnington Park. Various contributors have submitted pictures and I have tried to select those of interest to readers.

I think you will all know about each vehicle with recourse to captions but if you put the registration of any vehicle you are especially interested - without spaces - i.e. SN16ORW into Goggle this will give you lots of information about that vehicle.

The Stockport PD2 with East Lancs bodywork was a very clean and pleasing design.

I remember during my Ribble days in 1964/5 passing this coach each morning on my way from Manchester to Preston
and this was on route from Blackpool to Nottingham. How time flies!

The Motts coach in a different livery is interesting as is the ex Stagecoach bendi-coach,
who remembers one in trial service with the Oxford tube?

The new Megabus Astromega is of note.

London Bus Museum - Brooklands

A bus event took place on  October 23rd and this is reported in pictures by Clive Middleton. Exhibits were mainly London but there were some very nice vehicles present. How many readers have travelled on a BEA half deck coach? And who remembers and travelled on the ST on service 100 which ran in London years ago?

An interesting bus pictured by Clive Middleton taken at The British Motor museum, Gaydon, was this First World War Old Bill Bus. This visited Gaydon on October 4th.

Amersham by Nick Cherry

The sun, low in the sky at this time of year, always makes life difficult for that perfect picture!
However Nick's pictures still give a feel for this annual event.
