Events of note
THE development of this period in our time is that of contactless payment. This is referred to in various parts of the OCBP but recent news was from Go-Ahead.
Oxford Bus Company has selected Ticketer
to provide new on board ticketing equipment for its entire fleet and those of
its sister companies Thames Travel and Carousel Buses. The 282 new
machines include a barcode and QR code scanner, and will be set up to accept
contactless debit and credit card payments as well as the ITSO smartcard scheme
the key. They are expected to be rolled out to vehicles early in 2017.
Phil Southall
said: ‘We’ve been using Ticketer’s hand held
ticketing equipment for the past two years to support our express coach
operations and have been really impressed with how it’s performed. We’ve looked
across the market and believe no other supplier can match Ticketer’s offering of
cutting edge on-bus hardware and cloud based, real time back office reporting.
What’s more, as an organisation they are very good at listening to their
customers to help shape future developments, and so it was an easy decision to
make to partner with them.’
Ticketer Managing Director
John Clarfelt said: ‘We are
absolutely thrilled to have been successful in winning such a prestigious
contract and delighted to be working more widely with Oxford Bus Company. They
have a very exciting vision for the future, and we are really looking forward to
working in partnership with them to deliver on that vision over the coming
years.’
Reviews
I have something
that may be of interest to some of your readers of the Oxford Bus Page. For the
past year I have been putting some photo books together with the help of some
other photo collaborators on a range of London related transport, one of which
being London's Buses. But with a twist being that the vehicle history is all
done in model form. The book is now available on Amazon in both Kindle and Print
format....unfortunately the print version is currently quite expensive due to
production costs and Amazon's hefty cut but looking into ways of getting this
reduced.
Not only does the book includes
London Buses, but also ones in the surrounding counties which is where I feel it
might attract interest from your readers. I've attached some sample photos which
show locations and vehicles from Aylesbury, Amersham, and St Albans which
include vehicles from London Transport, London Country, Red Rover, The Shires
and Yellow Bus.
Below our links to the book on
Amazon, let me know if you need any more info and no worries if not interested
in adding to your page:
